Ph.D. Program in Education Sciences

To allow sufficient time for review by the College Doctoral Academic Review Committee, the application deadline for the Ph.D. Program in Education Sciences is August 24, 2026.

The university’s online credit exemption application system will remain open until September 9, 2026.

Application Procedures

1. Graduate students who wish to apply for credit exemption during their first semester of enrollment, or during the first semester after direct admission to the doctoral program, should log in to the Academic Information System / Credits & Credit Exemption page and enter all courses for which they wish to apply for exemption.

   After entering the courses, click “Submit Application Form” to send the application to the electronic form (eForm) system. Then go to “Application Record Inquiry” in the eForm system to upload the required supporting documents.

   For courses requested for credit exemption, please highlight the relevant courses on your official transcript.

   After uploading the documents, click the following in order:

   “Save” → “Preview Application Form” → “Preview Workflow” → “Submit Application”

   If the department or program requires any additional supporting documents, please upload all required documents together.

   Important: Please make sure that all courses for which you wish to apply for credit exemption have been entered before submitting the application. Once an eForm credit exemption application is under review, you cannot submit another credit exemption application at the same time.

3. Starting from the second semester of Academic Year 114, the required forms for students who graduated from or previously studied at another university without completing a degree have been revised. Students should download the appropriate form according to their individual status.

   For students who graduated from another university and, during their bachelor’s or master’s degree studies, completed master’s- or doctoral-level courses with a grade of 70 or above (or B- or above), please download and print:

   “Certificate of Credits Earned in Master’s/Doctoral Courses – For Graduates”
   (For students who were not previously enrolled at NTHU and are applying for credit exemption upon admission to an NTHU graduate program.)

   For students who previously enrolled in a graduate program at another university but did not complete the degree, please download and print:

   “Certificate of Credits Earned in Master’s/Doctoral Courses – For Non-Graduates”
   (For students who were not previously enrolled at NTHU and are applying for credit exemption upon admission to an NTHU graduate program.)

   The appropriate form must be certified by the office or unit responsible for academic records at the student’s previous institution. The certified form should then be combined with the official transcript and, for former non-graduating students, the certificate of previous enrollment/study, into one file and uploaded to the eForm system.

4. Additional documents required by the Ph.D. Program in Education Sciences:

   2. Course syllabus/syllabi for the course(s) requested for credit exemption

According to Article 1, Paragraph 3 of the National Tsing Hua University Regulations for Students’ Credit Exemption:

New graduate students who, during their bachelor’s or master’s degree studies, completed master’s- or doctoral-level courses with a grade of 70 or above (or B- or above) may apply for credit exemption.

Courses and credits requested for exemption must not have already been counted toward another degree. Applications involving duplicated credit counting will not be accepted.

According to Article 3, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 6 of the Regulations and Implementation Guidelines for the Doctoral Program and Degree Examination of the College of Education, the following regulations apply to credit exemption:

1. Applications for credit exemption must be completed once during the first semester of the academic year of enrollment. Please refer to the registration instructions for the relevant application schedule.
2. Courses requested for credit exemption must be relevant to the academic and professional fields of the Doctoral Program. Applicants must also submit the course syllabus/syllabi of the course(s) requested for exemption for review by the Academic Review Committee.
